Maryland wine trails

Maryland has about 1,000 acres of grapes, planted from Garrett and Allegany counties in the mountains to the Eastern Shore and Southern Maryland.
Three AVAs were set up in the 1980s: Linganore (1983), Cumberland Valley (1985) and Catoctin (1987).
Boordy Vineyards opened in 1945 as Maryland's first bonded winery; the Maryland Wineries Association was founded in 1984.
The state's first wine trail, the Frederick Wine Trail, was formed in 2007.
